|Dr. Amrani received his bachelor's degree in Chemistry and Biochemistry from Cornell University in only three years. He earned his medical degree from New York University in 1982. After completing a general surgery internship at Letterman Army Medical Center, Dr. Amrani spent three years on the orthopedic service of Martin Army Community Hospital at Fort Benning, Georgia. He then completed his orthopedic residency training at the University of Vermont in 1989. He was one of the first fellows in the Spine Surgery program at Emory University in Atlanta, and has been practicing spine surgery since he completed the training in 1990.
Dr. Amrani specializes in spinal surgery that avoids the use of metal screws, rods or plates. He also has extensive experience and expertise in the use of electrical stimulation of the spinal cord for the treatment of chronic pain. He has published numerous articles on the use of this modality and has developed a novel technique for implanting stimulators in the cervical spine for neck and arm pain. He is constantly trying to improve his patients' outcomes, including designing a new stimulator for the neck.
